About me
Playfulness and childlike are often words I use to describe my own artwork. Bold and vibrant colors, patterns, and textures inspire my work as well as natural forms. Traditional pottery shapes, as well as organic forms inspire my felted vessels. Each piece is individual and develops it’s own texture and shape and blends of colors through the process of hand felting the merino wool. While the pieces are individual, they often are developed as a body of pieces that can work together in large or small groupings.
I come from Cranston, RI and grew up in a family of artists and educators. Graduating from the University of RI with a BS in Early Childhood Education and a Masters in Creative Arts and Learning from Lesley University. Working with young children in art has been a passion of mine since I began my career. Teaching in Early Childhood Settings inspired by the schools of Reggio Emilia has guided my pedagogy in working with students of all ages. I have worked as a professor at Bunker Hill Community College, Lesley University, the Music Education Program at Boston Conservatory, UMass Dartmouth, and Endicott College. I have worked as a classroom teacher, art teacher, and teaching artist for children in schools and community settings. In my most recent position, I taught art to students from Preschool-12th grade at the RI School for the Deaf and am currently the art teacher at Parker Elementary School in New Bedford, MA.
